Although the city of Hamad has just been established in the recent few years, it has become one of the best and most important cities in the Kingdom of Bahrain due to the continuous development and improvement done by the government. In the past, the city was named after King Hamad bin Isa Khalifa of Bahrain. The town was also a part of the municipality of Al Rifaa, before it was eventually separated in the early 1990s to have its own municipality.

Historical Background of Hamad Town

Hamad Town was built in the 1980s , specifically in 1984. The Bahraini government aim was to establish residential complexes, provided with all basic amenities and with reasonable prices. As time went by, the area witnessed a surge in both Bahraini citizens and migrants. In the early 2000s, Hamad Town had a population of 166,000 people.
