Durrat Al Bahrain is the 2nd largest artificial island in the southern governorate after Amwaj Islands. It lies along the southern coast of Bahrain and is connected to the capital Manama by a six-lane highway, which dates back to 2007. The highway is directly connected to King Fahd bridge and can be connected to other bridges in Qatar.
The Durrat Al Bahrain project consists of 15 artificial islands in an area exceeding 20 million meters squared. Of these 15 islands, 6 are coral islands, 5 are fish-shaped and 2 are crescent-shaped. The project is estimated to have cost 6 billion US dollars, which is equivalent to 2.268 billion Bahraini dinars. The project encompasses many 5-star hotels in addition to an 18-hole golf course, 12 bridges, and a marina. The marina extends across 3 islands and it is one of the joint projects between Durrat Al Bahrain and Al Tameer Company, which is considered one of the most famous development companies in the gulf region.
