Historical Background of Rumaithiya Neighborhood

Rumaithiya Neighborhood was named after a plant called (Hammad Elegans) or (Haloxylon Salicornicum); where camels used to feed on, before it became a residential area. It is also said that a man from Al A’wazem tribe called Ibn Ramthan had a farm in the area, and back then it consisted of 13 plots; however, plot number 13became a part of Salmiya area and Rumaithiya was left with 12 plots and it was named after him.
