Historical Background of Salmiya

In the past, Salmiya’s name used to be Ad Dumnah, then its name changed to Al Anbara in 1952, and finally in 1953 it was named Salmiya after Sheikh Salem Mubarak Al-Sabah. The area was redeveloped and rebuilt after it was destroyed in the Gulf War. It has become a region with high rise apartments and complexes.
